Full & Partial Rewires

We offer a full or partial rewiring service to homeowners across Sussex. If a property hasn’t been rewired in the last 25-30 years, it will probably need upgrading to ensure it complies with current safety standards and is safe for continued usage and not left in a potentially dangerous condition.

This will usually include replacement of the fuse board and therefore will be installed to meet all Part P regulations (Electrical Safety)

An EIC (electrical installation certificate) is then issued to the property owner on completion.

Kitchen Electrics

Upgrading kitchen electrical installations are a must if the layout is to be changed plus extra’s like spotlights, under cabinet lighting, cooker supplies and extra appliances are all options to be considered when installing a new kitchen or improving your existing layout.

Bathroom Electrics

If you are updating a tired bathroom or installing an en suite, careful planning and expertise are required in order to have a completely safe and worry free installation. All electrical light fittings, showers, switches, extractor fans etc. are all positioned and installed in particular zones and this is all taken care of by us to ensure your safety. Upgraded lighting, LED mirror lights can all add that little bit extra appeal of your new bathroom.

Consumer Unit Replacement

If your fuse board looks like this then it’s probably time for an upgrade. An older style fuse board does not offer the same fault protection as a more modern consumer unit with RCD protection (residual current device) or SPD’s (surge protective device) or AFDD’s (arc fault detection device), technology has thankfully progressed making for an effective combination of safety features for the benefit of the consumer.

Extra Sockets

Are the rooms in your property overflowing with extension leads and plug adapters? As time has gone on, more & more appliances, computers, games consoles etc. have been added to our electrical list and many properties have not been adapted to accommodate all the extra’s. Installation of additional sockets can be easily completed with many sockets now having USB charging ports too!

Lighting Upgrades

Having the right lighting in your home can add ambience and aesthetic appeal! Also, with a selection of modern LED fittings, a significant cost saving can be made each year on your electric bill. An LED lamp maybe more expensive initially but with the increased efficiency and longer lifespan it will save more over time.

Smoke Alarms

Mains 230v (with battery backup) interlinked smoke alarms and heat alarms are a must in any household. We install leading brands only like Kidde & Aico which fulfill the requirements of BS 5839 Part 6.

EV Charging Points

With an ever increasing need for electric vehicles Hummingbird Electrics Ltd have become OZEV approved installers, registered with Pod Point, Easee & EO home electric vehicle chargers. Charge your electric vehicle at home using a smart home charge solution.

Home Office & Garage Electrics

As a standard your garden office, detached garage or garden shed will need to be connected to the house supply via a SWA (steel wire armoured) heavy duty cable to protect against external conditions. This is usually then connected to your existing consumer unit (if it meets current standards) The outbuilding is then connected with it’s own designated circuit and additional lights, sockets etc. will then have an adequate supply.

Fault Finding & Rectification

Fault finding is what you have to do when you have a problem with your electrical system.

Usually finding an electrical fault requires an experienced professional electrician due to the complicated nature of how the electrical system works. Common issues are: RCD’s or MCB’s tripping, fuses blowing, lights not working, no power at sockets and many other scenarios.

EICR Inspection & Testing

An EICR is an ‘electrical installation condition report’. It exists to ensure that all electrical installations are in a safe and reliable condition and can be used without danger. It is now a legal requirement for landlords to have a satisfactory EICR completed every 5 years.

The EICR involves a meticulous and extensive testing procedure including a visual inspection and will confirm any defects that you will be made aware of on completion. When repairs and improvements are carried out to make the installation safe and up to current standards the installation will be classed as satisfactory for continued use.
